2025-26 Free Agent Watch: Top Outfielders On the Open Market
Kyle Tucker is the headliner, along with Cody Bellinger, but which other outfielders are the best on the free agent market?
Last year, when the World Series ended, Juan Soto met with the media after the game and officially proclaimed himself open to bidding for all 30 teams. This kicked off the winter of Soto, with teams tripping over themselves to offer him more and more money in a blind auction that ended with him signing a $765 million deal.
While there is no player in this year’s class who can expect to enjoy such a robust market, there are a few outfielders who are going to be highly sought after. None more than Kyle Tucker.
A cold streak due to a broken hand will not dissuade teams from looking to acquire one of the best right fielders in the game. Tucker is entering his age-29 season, not his age-26 season like Soto, but he may still be able to demand close to 10 years, and his contract will at least start with a 3, and could very easily stretch to start with a 4.
For teams that aren’t willing to go to that length to sign Tucker, they could settle on Cody Bellinger instead. The 30-year-old is having another really solid year and is going to be looking to finally sign a long-term deal.
The market drops off the table after those two names. But there is still a fair amount of center fielders who can be signed, and a few intriguing corner bats that could provide value still.
Kyle Schwarber falls into the category of DH more than left fielder, but teams can always stick him out there if they are pressed and have the DH spot clogged. In all reality, though, there aren’t any teams in the game that couldn’t use this slugger as their DH on a nightly basis.
In the following breakdown of top free agents this winter, you will find the top players at each position; corner outfielders, center fielders, and “outfielders” who are really now just designated hitters. They have been listed based on who has the most free agent value.
As the offseason marches on, we will periodically update this article with new information that relates to these free agents.
With that said, every player’s Baseball Reference page has been linked, so you can always find updated stats by clicking on each name found below.
2026 Top MLB Free Agent Corner Outfielders
Once again, this is a free agent class that is going to primarily center around the top two outfielders on the market: Kyle Tucker and Cody Bellinger. Those are the two impact-free agent bats that teams will be willing to sign to long-term deals.
Beyond Tucker and Bellinger, the corner outfield market drops off to Willi Castro, a utilityman who is entering his age-29 season, and veterans like Mike Yastrzemski, Mike Tauchman, and Randal Grichuk, amongst others, who are entering the second half of their 30s.

2026 Top MLB Free Agent Center Fielders
Compared to the corner outfield market, you could almost make the argument that the group of free agent center fielders is deeper in terms of starting-caliber players. Trent Grisham put together a great contract year with the Yankees and earned himself a big raise for next season in the form of an accepted qualifying offer.
Cedric Mullins put together an up-and-down season, but still came close to a 20/20 season from the center field position. Even Harrison Bader has enjoyed something of a career year in 2025.

2026 Top MLB DH/OF Bats
While the press release may read outfielder when some of the following guys sign, make no mistake about it, this next group of free agents is entering the market as designated hitters.
Kyle Schwarber is the top slugger on the board, coming off a truly spectacular contract year, where he is likely to get some MVP votes. Schwarber is a top-five free agent in this class among position players, regardless of the fact that he doesn’t have a true position.
After Schwarber and perhaps Marcell Ozuna down in Atlanta, the DH market falls off. However, veterans (and former teammates) Starling Marte and Andrew McCutchen may still be looking to extend their careers on one-year deals, and Jesse Winker will be looking to bounce back after injuries wiped out most of his 2025 season.
