2025 Bowman Chrome Guide: Is It Worth the Hype?
The 2025 Bowman Chrome was just released today. Here's our look into what can be found inside, and if it is worth the price.
2025 Bowman Chrome features the league’s hottest young stars and prospects, along with 1st Bowman’s of the top IFA signings.
It can be a bit of a crapshoot when the chase names are primarily international signings who can be even more hit or miss than those found in Bowman Draft or Bowman Baseball products, but that doesn’t mean this year’s release isn’t filled with some high upside names and electric inserts for some of the top rookies in the game.
Where to Buy
The most difficult part of any Bowman release is finding a place to purchase product at retail prices.
Just Baseball has teamed up with Lids to make sure our readers get access to Bowman product at retail.
That’s right, you can find Bowman Chrome Hobby Boxes at retail prices exclusively at 101 Lids stores around the country. To see which store near you is carrying Bowman Chrome hobby boxes, visit the Hobby Box Store Locator.
In addition to carrying Bowman Chrome hobby boxes, Lids is offering our readers and exclusive offer. All you have to do is text 29017 to get 20% off your next purchase of headwear and apparel (some exclusions do apply). This discount will get you 20% off key upcoming headwear releases like the fall color pack and any postseason gear you need for an October playoff run!

New Look
There has been a lot of drama the past few years over Topps/Fanatics changing the long-standing ways products have been packaged. I generally believe this is a dumb thing to get upset about but I can understand the frustration for this year’s Bowman Chrome.
Normally when buying a hobby box, you’re given two mini boxes with six packs each. Each mini box contains one autograph, so two per hobby is standard. This year, they’re doing away with the mini box format and many are up in arms because instead of 12 packs total, you’ll now have 6 packs total.
What many of them can’t do, is simple math. There will still be the same number of cards total (60) despite the fewer number of packs. You’re still guaranteed the same number of autographs as well even though the product will be distributed in a different format.

What’s Inside?
Many of the same inserts return from years past, such as Bowman Ascensions, Garbage Pail Kids, and Spotlights, which will likely remain short-printed as in years past. New inserts include Adios, Meteoric Rise, and Melt Mashers.
You can expect each box to be loaded with a mix of new and old inserts while hoping for a big hit.
The newest parallel addition to the fold has incredible aesthetics. A handful of prospects will receive the “International Refractor” treatment. Those parallels, which include auto versions as well, will feature backgrounds with the player’s native country and will be limited to five copies each.
Aside from the prospects themselves, Bowman Chrome usually has a great group of rookie autos to chase as well, especially those names who were not in the original May release. Nick Kurtz, Drake Baldwin, Marcelo Mayer and Edgar Quero all get their first RC auto treatment in Bowman form.
And you can also find rookie base cards of these names and more that will once again have the “red rookie” logo on them, symbolizing the redemption process Fanatics introduced this season that will give you better rewards the longer and more successful that particular player’s career is.

Prospects to Chase
- Josur Gonzalez (SS / San Francisco Giants): The Giants’ No. 2 prospect on the Just Baseball rankings is sure to garner heavy attention in this product. The switch-hitting shortstop has a unique blend of power and speed, which will only improve when he grows into his frame. He could be a shorter version of Elly De La Cruz.
- Elian Peña (SS / New York Mets): Currently the No. 8 prospect in the Mets system according to our rankings, Peña is a lightning rod. Hit nearly .300 in the DSL with great power for someone only standing 5’10. Who knows if he’ll ever debut in the MLB as a Met, given their propensity to go for it at the deadline, but will make their spot in breaks very pricing this fall.
- Cris Rodriguez (OF / Detroit Tigers): The best pure power prospect in this release, Rodriguez is the No. 4 international prospect according the MLB.com. He’s Eloy Jimenez 2.0 in every way down to growing up in the same city in the Dominican Republic. If you wanna chase the pure power guy in Bowman Chrome, Rodriguez will be the pricey selection.
- Brayan Cortesia (SS / Washington Nationals): Here’s my sleeper pick for this release. Cortesia is a 6’1 Venezuelan shortstop that will stay there through the minors, given his smooth mechanics and overall above-average athleticism. The bat is already there, hitting well over .300 in rookie ball, so if the power can come around, we’ve got a diamond in the rough for this class.
