Next week, on May 13th, Topps will be releasing their latest box sets with the release of Bowman Baseball 2026. What follows is your guide to everything you need to know about the new release, from where to buy, to what to look forward to in this year’s addition.

Where to Buy

The most difficult part of any Bowman release is finding a place to purchase product at retail prices.

Just Baseball has teamed up with Lids to make sure our readers get access to Bowman product at retail.

That’s right, you can find Bowman Chrome Hobby Boxes at retail prices exclusively at 101 Lids stores around the country. To see which store near you is carrying Bowman Chrome hobby boxes, visit the Hobby Box Store Locator.

In addition to carrying Bowman Chrome hobby boxes, Lids is offering our readers and exclusive offer. All you have to do is text 29017 to get 15% off your next purchase of headwear and apparel (some exclusions do apply). This discount will get you 15% off key upcoming headwear releases like the fall color pack and any postseason gear you need for an October playoff run!

Prospect Perspective

Every iteration of a Bowman product, is always going to be carried by the prospect group associated with it. 2026 Bowman Baseball is no different, but the names we expected to be the big chases aren’t really the ones making waves. That’s not a bad, just something to be cautious about.

2025 Bowman Draft, which released in January, was stacked with 15 of the Top 20 picks from the 2025 MLB Draft having their 1st Bowman autos released.

Again, that’s not out of the ordinary, but Topps made a huge gamble on saving Ethan Holliday and Aiva Arquette as the lone Top-10 picks that will be in this product. Both are talented no doubt, but collectors perennially shy away from buying Rockies and Marlins prospects

While those two will likely get a majority of the hype, and have the most expensive break prices, there are some other names that will be big auto chases as well:

  • Andrew Fischer – Milwaukee Brewers (3B)
  • Juan Sanchez – Toronto Blue Jays (SS)
  • Daniel Pierce – Tampa Bay Rays (SS)
  • Roldy Brito – Colorado Rockies (3B)

Fischer and Florentino are already raking this season in their respective leagues. Sanchez is raw but has the tools to project for heavy power. Brito might be better than his Rockies counterpart when it’s all said and done so a nice consolation prize if you spend big for that Colorado spot.

Much like the 2024 Bowman Draft class, which is truly generational at this point, the 2025 Bowman Draft class was loaded as well. That product was very pitcher heavy and this one should see more hitters make their mark in the big leagues.

Auto-mated Access

With any sports card product, the autographs are the chase and even more so when it comes to Bowman. 2026 Bowman Baseball, however, is loaded with non-prospect autos as well.

There will be chrome rookie autographs which names include Chase Burns, Roman Anthony, Jac Caglianone and Munetaka Murakami. A few of those names also appear on the non-chrome, retail only autos that also feature veteran names like Mike Trout, Nick Kurtz and Fernando Tatis Jr.

Under the “Draft Pick Pairings” subset, we’ll see some fantastic dual autographs as well:

  • Alex Bregman/Bobby Witt Jr., Houston Astros/Kansas City Royals
  • Alex Rodriguez/Ken Griffey Jr., Seattle Mariners
  • Evan Longoria/Manny Machado, Tampa Bay Devil Rays/Baltimore Orioles
  • Max Scherzer/Andrew McCutchen, Arizona Diamondbacks/Pittsburgh Pirates
  • Stephen Strasburg/Paul Skenes, Washington Nationals/Pittsburgh Pirates

Rounding out the auto checklist will be the return of the “Prospect Golden Ink” variations which debuted in 2025 Bowman Draft. The all black version of the prospects 1st Bowman auto will feature a gold signature and are limited to 15 copies a piece.

Work in Progress

The beauty of Bowman is there’s also always plenty of amazing inserts to find as well that are common and some that are more short-printed. Returning are the popular Crystalized, Bowman Spotlight and Anime, which are the more difficult ones to hit.

The World Baseball Classic gets some love with some of the Anime cards depicting the players in their WBC uniforms. Even more rare will be a 7-card variation subset of the Anime that will have the Kanji script.

New to the lineup of short-printed inserts is the Patchwork set. Fun design that depicts stars of past, present and future with all the particular patches and name plates you’d find on the subjects jersey.

What’s in the Box?

While Topps’ website has the Hobby ($240) and Jumbo ($520) versions available for pre-order launch sale on May 13th, the secondary market prices are already showing to be around $360 and $720 respectively.

According to the research of this Reddit user, the total number of cards in this product compared to last year’s iteration is down by nearly 16% while the amount of overall parallels is up just over 30% YOY.

Given that the configuration of both Hobby (1 auto) and Jumbo (3 autos) hasn’t changed, we’re either getting more numbered cards in those formats or we could be seeing the retail formats (Value and Mega Boxes) as be the big winners here.

We’ll know more in the coming days after the release, but it does seem like a significant shift that benefits those looking for the cheaper alternative to the Hobby, Jumbo or even the Breakers Delight configurations.
